Sinopsis

Macroscopic description of heat transfer in a porous medium may require the introduction of non-local thermal equilibrium theories. After a brief introduction on two-equation models, especially the one obtained from the volume averaging theory, this paper presents a comparison between theoretical prediction of macroscopic transport coefficients, and experimentally determined ones. The theoretical predictions are based on three-dimensional numerical solutions of the local closure problems associated with the two-equation theory.
