TRANSITION TO UNSTEADINESS IN THREE DIMENSIONAL LOW PRANDTL NATURAL CONVECTION

Sinopsis

A numerical study of the unsteady natural convection of low Prandtl number (Pr) fluids in a cubic cavity is undertaken. A time accurate and robust marching scheme has been used to study the transition to unsteadiness over a range of Grashof numbers (Gr). The results of three-dimensional computations are compared to previously obtained two-dimensional findings for Prandtl number 0.001 and several Gr around 106 .
