Sinopsis

An experimental study is made on the effect of conjugation on the critical heat flux (CHF) of the evaporator section of a Iwo-phase closed thermosyphon. The conjugation is caused by the induced asymmelric two-phase fluid flow due to the inclination of the thermosyphon as well as by the uneven circumferential distribution of the dry patches formed within the thermosyphon.
To quantify the effect of conjugation on CHF, an analysis was carried out and an empirical correlation for CHF was deduced from 13 variables used in the analysis with constants from the experiment.
