Sinopsis

Experimental measurements of steady state pool boiling heat transfer coefficients have been recently reported for six aqueous ternary mixture systems. This investigation compares the calculated pool boiling heat transfer coefficients using the methods of Schlunder, Stephan and Preusser, Thome and Shakir, and Palen and Small to these data. It was found that the prediction of multicomponent pool boiling heat transfer coefficients were greatly improved by using a correlation for the ideal heat transfer coefficient that incorporated the nonlinear variation of thermal properties. The comparisons with data showed that the models proposed of Schlunder and Thome and Shakir provided the most reliable prediction of the experimental data when the Stephan-Abdelsalam correlation was used to calculate the ideal heat transfer coefficient.
