Sinopsis

Experiments involving the mixing of two cryogenic fluids have been performed as part of a non-reactive simulation of accidental spills of liquid oxygen (L02) into liquid hydrogen (LH2) . Jets of either L02 or liquid nitrogen (LN2) were injected into a deep pool of liquid helium. Results of the experiments showed that only small differences exist between L02 and LN2 as a jet fluid. Also, only about 65% of the jet fluid's sensible energy went into the actual vaporization of the liquid helium.
