Sinopsis

The effect of internal rifling on heat transfer and pressure loss in an evaporator tube were investigated in a high-pressure test facility. The parameter range of the investigations covers the operating range of fossil-fired steam generators at full and part load. The results of the investigations are compared with the data gained from smooth tubes and with test results presented in the literature. Analysis methods for the location of the boiling crisis, heat transfer in the post-CHF regime and the pressure loss in the single and two-phase regimes are specified. Theoretical expressions are used to attempt to transfer the knowledge thus obtained to rifled tubes of similar tube geometry.
