Sinopsis

Based on the streamwise pseudo-vortical motion model of the coherent turbulence structure, a numerical analysis of the turbulent heat transport in the near-wall region is carried out for Prandtl numbers of 0.7−100. The present model assumes streamwise counter-rotating vortical fluid motions as a primary turbulence activity near the wall. Three components of velocity fluctuations periodic in the spanwise direction are given by simple algebraic expressions. The steady energy equation is then numerically solved for a fully-developed thermal field by directly introducing the velocity components given by the model. As a result, the statistical quantities of the thermal field are calculated reasonably well for various Prandtl numbers. It is of particular importance that the near-wall distributions of the turbulent heat flux and the turbulent Prandtl number are influenced appreciably by the thermal boundary conditions on the wall, i.e., isothermal and constant heat-flux conditions. In addition, the production and the diffusion of temperature fluctuation predicted are qualitatively in good agreement with those experimentally observed.
