Sinopsis

Simultaneous measurements have been obtained, of temperature fluctuations at several points on the surface of a heated glass plate as individual vapour bubbles form, grow and move off. The temperatures were measured by small resistance thermometers consisting of thin films of metal and semiconductor, having virtually no effect on the flow of heat and fluid. Transient, heat fluxes have been deduced and related to synchronised high speed photographs. Results are presented and discussed for the; generation of discrete bubbles in toluene at different pressures, sub cooling and overall heat flux.
