Sinopsis

Noncircular-throat-body heat transfer results with and without water film cooling are presented. The throat body employed had a 3/8-inch dimension in cross flow and an axes ratio of 2.5.

With film cooling, improved film-cooling effectiveness was encountered in comparison to 3/8-inch OD throat tubes (1). Without film cooling, the results indicate reduced heat fluxes in good agreement with the prediction of the turbulent boundary layer theory. Generalized correlation of circular and noncircular-throat-body heat transfer data is accomplished in terms of the attached flow length of the throat body involved.
