Sinopsis

A simple empirical model, having only four non-dimensional equations and six empirical constants, has been presented for predicting the heat transfer coefficient during film condensation of refrigerants and water over horizontal integral-fin copper tubes, by directly correlating the reliable experimental data available in the literature. The model is suitable for two-dimensional circumferential fins of rectangular or trapezoidal cross section. The model is capable of predicting most of the experimental data pertaining to refrigerants and water within ± 15 %. The effect of fin spacing, fin thickness, and fin height predicted by the present model is satisfactory over the practical range of interest and is better than the existing models.
