Sinopsis

Forced convection heat transfer of water or air in sintered porous plate channels was investigated experimentally and numerically using a local thermal non-equilibrium model. The effects of fluid velocity, particle diameter and fluid properties on the convection heat transfer and heat transfer enhancement in sintered porous plate channels were investigated experimentally. The results showed that the sintered porous media intensified the heat transfer much more than the non-sintered packed beds due to the reduced thermal contact resistance. For the tested conditions the sintered porous plate channels increased the heat transfer coefficient up to 15 times for water and 30 times for air. The numerical simulation results correspond well with the experimental data in the bronze sintered porous plate channels.
