Sinopsis

A new method of heat transfer enhancement using flow-induced vibration is presented, and a novel heat transfer element named elastic tube bundles is designed. With theoretical analyses and experimental studies, the elastic tube bundles are proved to be able to vibrate regularly in response to the fluid pulsation. The in-plane and out-plane vibration of the elastic tube bundles induced by water flow can not only effectively increase the convective heat transfer coefficient but also decrease the fouling thermal resistance.
