Sinopsis

The adsorption method of convective mass fluxes measurement is based on diffusion controlled adsorption of an organic dye, from a diluted water solution, to the surface of a thin, white adsorbent layer. Local mass transfer rates can be obtained from adsorption chromatograms, either by reflected light colorimetry or dye elution. This method is applied to some fluid-solid systems, as a thin, flat plate in the longitudinal flow, circular cylinder in the cross-flow, rotating and vibrating disc in the stagnant fluid. A correlation of local heat and mass transfer data was obtained for all systems investigated.
