Sinopsis

A study of transient heat transfer for turbulent flow over a flat plate with appreciable thermal capacity and a step jump in heat flux is presented. The analysis is based on the transient surface renewal and penetration concept and involves the use of Siegel's technique to account for wall thermal capacity. This model is applicable to fluids with moderate Prandtl number. The theoretical predictions of wall temperature history are in good agreement with the available experimental data. The effects of Prandtl number upon the mean wall temperature history are presented.
