Sinopsis

The reasons for using flow boiling crisis scaling techniques are discussed and the two basic scaling techniques are described. A modification of the basic empirical scaling technique is proposed which extends the application of this method for round tube geometries to water equivalent pressures other than the single value (6.89 MPa) for which it had been developed, to tube geometries other than those having equal length to diameter ratios, and to model fluids other than Freon-12 (i.e. Freons-21, -114). The scaling accuracy is generally better than ± 10%.
