BUOYANCY INDUCED FLOWS ADJACENT TO HORIZONTAL SURFACES
Sinopsis
We analyse natural convection flows adjacent to horizontal disks, including the energy effects of pressure and viscous dissipation. Limitations on the physical reality cf similarity solutions are analyzed for flow above both a warm and cold surface. A variation of surface temperature as the square of the radius is a limiting one. Qualitative observations of flow above a heated disk have indicated several modes of instability and also show that the relation of such analysis to actual flows above finite disks depends on additional considerations. We then show a method of obtaining exact solutions for several disk and plane
flows.
