Sinopsis

An experimental study was made on the propagation of the rewetting front in very hot vertical and horizontal channels. Three circular test-sections of about 4 meter in length were tested at different values of initial wall temperature, coolant flow rate, coolant inlet subcooling, angle of orientation, and power input during the rewetting transient. In addition, the effect of the wall thickness was investigated. The experimental results were compared with previous experimental and analytical studies. The variation of the heat flux during the rewetting transient was deduced, and its effect on the propagation of the rewetting front was discussed.
