Sinopsis

The paper presents the results of statistical treatment of experimental data on void fractions and temperatures in two-phase flows. Cross-section-averaged void fractions at several cross sections along the channel were measured by beta raying. The temperatures at different distances from the vapor-generating surface were measured with low-inertia thermocouples. It is proved that recording of time variations in void fractions or temperatures of the flow with subsequent machine statistical processing offers considerable advantages over the other methods for investigating two-phase flows, in which only time averaged characteristics are measured. The recording of time variation in the parameters of pseudo-stable flows with subsequent statistical treatment on the oscillograms supplies additional information on the mechanism of the processes in two-phase flows in flow patterns where visual observations are impossible (In the cases of a frothlike flow pattern, in the near crisis region, by high pressures and temperatures).
