HEAT TRANSFER COMBINED WITH RADIATION AND NATURAL CONVECTION IN A RECTANGULAR ENCLOSURE
Sinopsis
Heat transfer combined with radiation and natural convection in a rectangular enclosure filled with radiation absorbing and emitting media is presented; a vertical wall is heated, and the other is cooled. The influence of radiation upon natural convection was examined theoretically and experimentally. The flow patterns and isotherms in the enclosure were numerically obtained for a few values of radiation parameters. It has been found that the convective heat transfer from the hot wall to the cold wall decreases when radiation is predominant. The reasons for this behavior were discussed.
Experiments using carbon dioxide were carried out to measure the isotherms in the enclosure by holographic interferometry.
