MIXED CONVECTION HEAT TRANSFER IN AN ANNULAR ENCLOSURE

Abstrakt

In this paper mixed heat transfer in an annular enclosure is presented. Firstly natural convection through the enclosure is considered. The thermoflow situation is numerically analysed using computational fluid dynamics. The case of mixed convection heat transfer through the enclosure where natural convection occurs in combination with forced convection is considered next. In the case of combined forced and natural convection low and medium spin velocities are enforced on the inner ring of the annulus.
A variety of cases representing different boundary value combinations including piecewise continuous constant temperature and adiabatic wall conditions are investigated and the salient results are presented in parametric format. Laminar flow only is considered in all CFD simulations.
