Abstrakt

A novel combustion nozzle utilizing flame impingement lias been developed from the concept of Radial Jet Reattachment. The RJR concept was emulated because of its high turbulence intensity which improves fuel/air mixing. RJR also provides high transport properties which enhance the convcctivc heat transfer rates in the impingement region. A Combustion Jet Impingement Facility has been designed and constructed to evaluate these new nozzles. Results from this ongoing research project include overall heat transfer measurements as a function of nozzle-to-plate distance, air How rate, fuel flow rate, and nozzle air exit velocity. Analysis of the exhaust gases were conducted. Comparisons of the new RJRC nozzle to conventional flame impingement nozzles arc reported.
