Abstrakt

The effects of physical properties of fluids on the coefficient of heat transfer from the tube wall to the fluid stream flowing within the tube, and on the flow resistance have been investigated experimentally under conditions of artificially generated turbulence within the fluid stream.
The turbulence has been generated by means of a set of identical perforated baffles with diameter approximate to the tube diameter, spaced along the tube at uniform intervals. Each baffle has had three identical symmetrically bored openings.
Air at atmospheric pressure, water and aqueous solutions of glycerine at various concentrations have been used and the fluid linear velocity and the spacing interval have been varied in individual series of experiments.
The results of experiments with heat transfer enhancement fit with standard deviation of 12% a correlation between Nusselt number and Prandtl and Reynolds numbers, the latter being defined by the dynamic velocity of the fluid.
