Abstrakt

Visualization of the local heat transfer coefficient distributions for both nine-jet in-line and seven-jet staggered jet array configurations are presented in this study. These local distributions were visualized and quantified using two-dimensional infrared radiometry. Results are presented primarily in terms of infrared thermal images with supporting quantitative data. The results reveal that the central jet stagnation Nusselt number increases with Reynolds number, and is unaffected by the presence of the neighboring jets. The variation of local Nusselt number in the region of radial flow (away from the stagnation zone), however, shows strong dependence on jet-to-jet spacing. Secondary maxima in heat transfer between the jets were observed for high jet-to-jet spacing configurations, and were more pronounced at high Reynolds numbers. Differences were observed in the heat transfer distributions depending on nozzle-to-plate spacing, and are explained.
