Abstrakt

An analysis is presented of the influence of radiative heat transfer on the complex heat exchange problem encountered during flow of an optically active gas inside a tube of diffuse grey properties. The method used is based on Hottel's formulation of zone division, and involves the transformational-zone approach, where gas emission is replaced with an equivalent surface emission. Separable-kernal and surface transformation techniques give a set of non-linear differential equations treated by the Runge-Kutta method with Hamming modification.
Satisfactory results were obtained, and verified by comparison with experimental data, also reported here. The latter was for a generator plasma flowing in a ceramic tube. Further experimental work involved determining absorptivity values for dust-gaseous mixtures, in the form of ash and air.
