Abstrakt

New heat recovery systems incorporate converging and diverging passages. An experimental investigation of diverging annular passages is presented. Passages consisted of a parallel outer wall with a concentrically mounted inner test surface with diverging angles of 1, 2 and 3°. Tests were conducted at Re=4, 7.5 and 14×l03. At larger values of diverging angle and Re a distinct peak in heat transfer occurs part way along the test section attributable to increasing turbulence intensity within the boundary layer.
