Abstrakt

Heat transfer in gas-particle cross flows is of interest for applications in fluidised bed combustor units. Although there is a considerable literature on heat transfer performance in the in-bed and splash zones where high solids concentrations exist, there has been little reported on the heat transfer in dilute gas-solid suspensions typical of the higher freeboard regions. This paper reports the preliminary results from a study of the effect of solid particles on the heat transfer characteristics of a tube array in cross flow. The results show that heat transfer can be enhanced or reduced by the presence of the particles in the flow and that the changes are dependent on particle size and concentration and on the location of the tube within the array.
