Abstrakt

Numerical modeling of natural convection-radiation interactions in multidimensional enclosures depends on a description of the radiative properties of the absorbing, emitting and scattering media, a method of calculating multidimensional radiative transfer and the numerical solution of the governing equations for buoyant enclosure flows. Our current knowledge in these three sub-areas is briefly reviewed to identify the best strategy for numerical interaction studies. It is shown that an efficient overall computational scheme is still lacking and several areas of research are identified and discussed.
