Abstrakt

Liquid metal turbulent heat transfer is calculated for the hydrodynamically and thermally, fully developed flow in a concentric annuli by applying a method free from an introduction of the turbulent Prandtl number. For this purpose, a modelled governing equation of vθ is numerically solved together with the fluid momentum and enthalpy equations and the full Reynolds stress turbulence model. The results to be discussed are hydrodynamic mean and turbulent quantities, the radial distributions of temperature and turbulent heat flux, and the Nusselt number. It is demonstrated that the temperature distribution and the Nusselt number calculated are in good agreement with available experimental data and empirical formulae.
