Abstrakt

Saturated or subcooled water up-to 8 kg/cm2 pressure was discharged to atmosphere from a pressure vessel through pipes of 4 mm ID by 0 - 2500mm long. Flow rates, flow patterns and pressure profiles along both long and short pipes were measured. Flow patterns of flashing water in a glass tube were observed by high speed camera. Results were as following. The pressure gradient at the exit of long pipe was finite and the pressure along the short pipe was constant. The flow pattern upstream of the pipe exit was "froth flow".
