Unsteady heat transfer in separated flow behind a circular cylinder
Abstrakt
An experimental study was carried out to investigate the unsteady heat transfer from a circular cylinder in cross
flow at Re ~ 2 × 104. In the separated flow region, the intensity of the fluctuation of the local heat transfer was very high, the r.m.s. value was about a half of the time-averaged value. From the simultaneous measurements of both fluctuating flow and heat transfer, it was confirmed that the instantaneous heat transfer around the rear
stagnation of the cylinder was enhanced by the flow reattachment, which was caused by the rolling-up of the
shear layers separated from the cylinder. The instantaneous distribution of the heat transfer in the separated flow
region showed three-dimensional characteristics. It fluctuated complicatedly due to the complex flow structure in the vicinity of the cylinder surface.
