Abstrakt

On-going work to develop polymer heat exchangers for solar applications addresses material properties and natural convection heat transfer of immersed tube bundles. This paper presents creep data for polybutylene tubes in air at 99% relative humidity. Natural convection heat transfer of a tube bundle immersed in a solar collector is interpreted from experiments with a single horizontal tube. Temperature measurements permit characterization of natural convection in the enclosure. Data are correlated by NuD = 0.675RaD0.25 for 106 < RaD < 108.
