Abstrakt

The results of investigation of free convection flows and heat transfer in closed cavities of comparatively complex configuration are presented. The study is based on numerical solution of equations for vortex and energy transport. The authors investigated heat transfer from one or two projecting heaters placed on the bottom horizontal plane of a rectangular cavity, to the top plane, at different boundary conditions. It is shown that at conditions under study, three different flow patterns are possible which substantially affect local characteristics of heat transfer. The results of numerical solution are generalized with methods of similarity theory.
