Abstrakt

This paper presents theoretical and experimental heat transfer coefficient data obtained for direct contact condensation on droplets moving in air/ steam mixtures. Air/steam mixtures varying in composition over the mole fraction range from 0 to 1 are investigated. Comparisons are made with existing theoretical and experimental data on direct contact condensation and heat transfer at the extremes of the concentration range. The conclusions show how droplet internal heat transfer resistance and the external heat and mass transfer resistances are all important factors affecting the overall heat transfer coefficients. The relative importance of these factors varies considerably with air/steam concentration. The results are useful in direct contact spray condenser and dehumidifier design and simulation.
