Abstrakt

Experimental data of heat transfer from an electrically heated cylindrical heater to air-water two-phase vertical upward flow in a concentric annulus are presented. Two cases are dealt with; (l) the air is mixed with the water stream at the inlet of the annulus and (2) the air is introduced into the water through the heater surface. Taking into consideration the radial profiles of local void fraction, bubblе impaction rate, bubblе velocity and liquid velocity, and also the bubblе size and frequency of detachment, we discuss the mechanism of increase in heat transfer coefficient as compared with that in single phase water flow.
