Abstrakt

Experimental studies were performed on critical heat fluxes and heat transfer coefficients for pool boiling of water and methanol at subatmospheric pressures on different heating surfaces. Measurements were made for pressures ranging from 6×103 to 105 N/m2 . The types of heating surfaces used in the experiments were: copper surface, copper surface coated with nickel and copper surfaces with sintered copper screens of three different thicknesses. The experimental results have been compared with Kutateladze's equation and test data of other author. A discussion has been given concerning the augmentation of nucleate boiling heat transfer produced by the surface with three layers of sintered screens of 185 mesh.
