Abstrakt

The experimental results concerning the vapour-liquid interaction in a high velocity vapour jet condensing in a subcooled water pool are presented. The jet stability in the various operating conditions has been investigated and the boundaries between stable and unstable jet behaviour are reported.
The pressure and temperature distributions inside the stable vapour jet and in the surrounding medium have been experimentally investigated.
The heat and mass transfer through the lateral surface of the vapour cone are studied and the condensation mass flux density is reported as a function of a proper driving parameter.
The measured jet length to nozzle diameter ratios are compared with some available correlations.
