Abstrakt

A zero-to onedimensional zone model for calculation of radiation heat transfer in furnaces and boilers is described. The mathematical procedure is similar to Hottel's zone method [1] but the exchange factors, which describe the heat transfer, are defined in a different and simpler manner. Another difference is that only gas volumes and so called fictitious walls are in radiation exchange and not the gas volumes directly. If the gas is regarded as a gray radiator the mathematical effort is small. With more consumption of computing time the gas may also be regarded as an imaginary clear and gray mixture as it was evolved by Hottel.
