Abstrakt

The effect of width and height on local natural convect Lon Nusselt numbers about heated, long rectangular parallelopipeds in air were studied. Correlations were established for the base and vertical surfaces. For the vertical surface, width caused a decrease near the leading edge and an increase near the trailing edge compared with the theoretical solutions of Ostrach and Sparrow. The lower surface results, which generally agreed with Wagner's theoretical solution, showed substantial edge effects. A variety of flow regimes may occur above the upper surface.
