GROWTH RATES OF FREE VAPOR BUBBLES IN BINARY LIQUID MIXTURES AT UNIFORM SUPERHEATS
Abstrakt
Experimental data is presented for growth rates of vapor bubbles in ethanol-water and isopropanol-water mixtures for superheats up to 6.6°C. Uniform
superheats were obtained by a pressure release technique. The measured phase growth occurred in the body of the liquid remote from solid surfaces. The pressure level was one atmosphere. Growth was observed for various mixture
compositions. A detailed comparison of the radius-time data to Scriven's exact solution for spherically symmetric, heat and mass diffusion controlled
phase growth is presented. Agreement is very good. For large times, effects due to bubble translational motion, not accounted for in Scriven's theoretical result, were observed.
