Abstract

As an important part of a research programme on high temperature wall rewetting with drop impingiment, the work described in the present manuscript reports the evaluation of the wall heat flux and the heat transfer coefficient during the rewetting process of an electrically heated vertical plate, using water sprays characterized by a single drop diameter.
The heat flux and the heat transfer coefficient have been obtained from direct analysis of wall thermocouples readings during the rewetting of the high temperature wall.
Maximum values of the heat flux and the heat transfer coefficient are in the ranges 3,5÷6·106 W/m2 and 1,6÷3·104 W/°C m2, respectively.
The functional dependence of the heat flux and the heat transfer coefficient from tested thermal-hydraulic conditions and cooling modes has been evaluated.
