Abstract

A new two-equation turbulence model has been developed in order to predict turbulent heat transfer in various Prandtl number fluids under various heat transfer conditions. In the present model, the effect of Prandtl number, Pr, on the characteristic length scale and dissipation rate of temperature fluctuations are taken into consideration and the exact wall limiting behavior of the turbulence quantities are automatically reproduced. The present model is well verified through the comparison with the results of the direct numerical simulations (DNS) and the experiments of turbulent thermal field in various kinds of fluids for Pr = 0.01 ~ 10,000.
