Abstract

A model finned tube heat exchanger has been used to examine velocity, pressure and particle deposition around the fins. The results suggest relatively high pressures upstream with lower pressures corresponding to low velocity downstream. The initial deposition of particles is considered to be due to impaction with the larger particles depositing near the root of the fms, while the smaller particles are towards the periphery of the fins.
