Abstract

The reflooding phenomena are investigated experimentally and numerically in the vertical 4x4-rod test bundle with one non-heated corner rod. The numerical simulation is performed with the three-dimensional multi-fluid model based on the porous media approach. Porosity and hydraulic resistance are defined with the rods' and spacers' positions and dimensions. The stagnant water is boiled-off in the bundle until the high clad temperature is reached. Than, the water flow is introduced at the bottom of the bundle. Obtained numerical results show the quenching front propagation along the bundle, transient void distribution, swell level propagation during the reflood phase, and two-phase mixture flow rates. Numerical results are compared with the measured data. The quenching front follows the two-phase mixture swell level propagations.
