An improved quasi-steady analysis for solving freezing problems

Abstract

Freezing process taking place in a plate and cylinder is investigated analytically. An improved quasi-steady analysis (IQSA) model is developed to solve the one-dimensional freezing problems. Since there is no exact solution available for the freezing process taking place in a cylinder, the IQSA can be used for solving the problem. The maximum relative error ofthe results using the IQSA in comparison with the exact solution in solving the freezing process in a plate is about 3%.
