Abstract

An analysis is made to study the heat transfer process by conduction, convection and radiation in the fully developed laminar flow of gray and nongray gases in cylindrical tubes having a constant uniform wall temperature for a wide range of optical thickness. The effects of non-black wall are also considered. Numerical results for the temperature profiles, local conductive, radiative and total heat fluxes and Nusselt number are obtained. The particular gases considered for the present analysis are carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, water vapor and methane.
