ANALYSIS OF LAMINAR FILM CONDENSATION ON A VERTICAL PLATE WITH VARIABLE SUCTION
Abstract
The classical boundary layer theory is extended for the case of condensation of vapours
on a flat vertical plate where some of the condensate is sucked with a velocity varying
directly with x−t. Subject to relevant boundary conditions, the conservation of momentum and energy equations together with overall energy balance are solved by numerical
methods on a computer. Results are obtained for the following ranges of heat capacity
parameter, Prandtl number and suction velocity parameter.
