Abstract

The report presents a study of heat transfer on a single tube and a separate vertical row of tubes with a transverse pitch s/d = 1.5 in water, under a combined effect of vibration and flow turbulence which was varied from 2 to 12 %. The ranges of Re from 104 to 2×105 and Pr from 5.5 to 7.0 were covered. Transverse vibration of tubes was indroduced mechanically. In the interpretation relalions, the results of the heat transfer under vibration were related to the vibration Reynolds number Rea. In the presence of vibration, the heat transfer augmentation was highest in the separation region. Turbulence induced changes of the heat transfer were more pronounced than under vibration. We suggest Tu0.15 and total Reynolds number Res = √(Re2 + Rea2) to account for the effect of turbulence and vibration on the heat transfer of tubes, respectively.
