Abstract

Theoretical and experimental investigation of direct contact condensation of one-component and binary vapor bubbles with translatory motion in uniformly subcooled stagnant liquid has been carried out. The effects of noncondensable gas on the condensation of a single one-component vapor bubble are studied. An attempt is made to analyze the condensation of binary vapor bubble on the basis of an approximate solution. The experiments are performed with steam-water and ethanol-water one-component and binary systems. High speed photography was used to evaluate the bubble condensation hystory. The theoretical results are compared with the experimental data. The agreement between experimental data and theoretical results is sufficiently good.
