Abstract

A new model for prediction of effective thermal conductivities of wet porous solids, such as bricks, thermal-insulation materials or sintered metals, is theoretically proposed, regarding them as consolidated granular beds of uniform spherical particles.
Then, for three kinds of glass-filter which are close to the typical consolidated granular bed and for four kinds of commercial firebrick, the comparisons between the observed and the predicted conductivities are performed to verify the availability of the model.
