摘要

Heat transfer and pressure loss predictive correlations are presented for the RODbaffle heat exchanger, based on experimental data obtained using ten different test exchanger bundles. Each of the test bundles was 260 mm (10.25 in.) in diameter, with bundle lengths ranging from 1040 mm (41 in.) to 3023 mm (119 in.) Four different baffle ring configurations, two different tube and rod sizes, and four different baffle spacings were investigated. Utilizing water and Mobiltherm Light as test fluids, shellside Reynolds numbers of from 300 to 80,000 were produced. Heat transfer data for both laminar and turbulent flow were correlated in conventional Nusselt, Reynolds, and Prandtl number form. Pressure loss correlations were developed which include a longitudinal flow and a baffle form-drag component. In addition to design correlations, thermal-hydraulic, performance comparisons are made with a double-segmental, plate-baffle heat exchanger.
